Privacy Policy

This policy explains what ComoClip collects when you use the website and ComoClip Desktop, why, who else handles it, and the choices you have. We don't sell your data, share it for advertising, or show ads.
What we collect
- Account: your email address, your plan, when you signed up and last signed in. Your password is never stored, only a one-way hash of it (Argon2id with a secret key kept outside the database).
- Your videos and clips: files you upload, links you paste, the clips we make, and the transcripts, captions, titles and AI notes created while processing. For the clip editor we also keep, for each clip, a slightly longer copy of that moment and its words, so you can trim, lengthen or fix the clip later.
- Templates: your clip style settings and any logo, music or outro video you upload to them.
- Live auto-clip: the Twitch and Kick channels you add (channel name and the platform's channel ID), your settings for each, and which of your PCs records it. If you sign in with Twitch or Kick to add your own channel, we read only its ID and name and revoke the sign-in right away. We don't keep the sign-in token and can't act on your Twitch or Kick account.
- Posting accounts (YouTube, TikTok): if you connect one, the account's ID and name and the access it grants ComoClip (stored encrypted), plus the posts you schedule: which clip, the title and caption you wrote, your choices for who can see it, when it goes out, and its result (link or error).
- Payments: if you pay, Stripe's ID for you as a customer, your subscription's status and renewal date, and the credit packs you bought. Your card details go only to Stripe.
- Paired PCs: the name you give each PC and basic details it reports (graphics card, operating system, AI model, app version, last time it was online).
- Usage and credits: minutes of video processed, AI credits received, bought and used, and storage used, so we can apply your plan's limits.
- Security: your IP address is used briefly to block repeated failed sign-ins and is not stored. Our server logs record events like sign-ins, errors and which projects were processed.
How we use it
Only to run ComoClip: to make your clips, show them to you, apply plan limits, send account emails (confirming your email, resetting your password, security notices), keep the service secure, and fix problems. We don't use your videos to train AI models.
Posting to YouTube and TikTok
When you connect YouTube or TikTok, you let ComoClip upload videos to that account. We use that access only to upload the clips you choose, with the text and settings you choose, at the time you choose, and to read the account's name so you can tell your accounts apart. We don't read your other videos, comments, messages or analytics, and we don't share the access with anyone. The access is stored encrypted, is only used on our server, and is deleted when you disconnect the account or delete yours.
ComoClip's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Uploading to YouTube uses YouTube API Services: see the YouTube Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy. You can also remove ComoClip's access from your Google account at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions, or from TikTok's settings (Security → Manage app permissions).
Your account is private
Your projects, clips, templates, channels and PCs are visible only to you when you're signed in. Other users can't see, open or change anything in your account, and your PCs only ever receive your own work. The people who run ComoClip can technically reach stored files to keep the service running and safe, and only look when needed for support, security or the law.
On your PC (ComoClip Desktop)
- My PC videos: your video is downloaded, transcribed and clipped on your own computer. Only the finished clips and their captions and notes are uploaded to your account.
- Live auto-clip: once a minute, ComoClip Desktop asks ComoClip whether the channels you added are live. We check this with Twitch or Kick using their channel IDs. When a channel is live, ComoClip Desktop records the stream onto your computer's disk. For Twitch it also saves the text and time of chat messages (not who sent them) to help find highlights. The recording and chat stay on your computer and are deleted once that part of the stream is clipped (unless you turned on keeping recordings). Only the finished clips are uploaded.
- ComoClip Desktop always connects out to ComoClip over an encrypted connection. We can't connect into your computer, and it only records twitch.tv and kick.com channel pages and downloads links from the supported video sites.
In the cloud
When you choose Cloud, your video is processed on computers we run. Speech-to-text and the Standard moment picker run on those computers too, not with an outside AI company.
Smart and Best picks (Anthropic)
If you choose Smart or Best, on your PC or in the cloud, the transcript of your video is sent to our server and then to Anthropic's Claude to pick the moments. Some details go with it: the video's title, channel name, description and chapters, plus the replay or chat-hype graph for streams. Anthropic processes it under its commercial API terms, which don't allow it to be used to train their models. With Standard, nothing is sent to an AI company.
Who else handles your data
We use a small number of providers to run the service, only for that purpose:
- Cloudflare: stores your uploaded videos, clips and template files (R2), keeps encrypted backups of our database, and carries traffic to the website.
- Our hosting provider: runs the website and database server.
- Anthropic: only for Smart and Best picks, as described above.
- Twitch and Kick: receive the IDs of channels you added when we check whether they're live, and handle sign-in if you choose it. Their own privacy policies apply when you sign in with them.
- Our email provider: delivers account emails.
- Stripe: handles payments, subscriptions and receipts. We never see or store your card number.
- YouTube (Google) and TikTok: only if you connect them, to upload the clips you choose to post. Their own privacy policies apply to what you post there.
We may also share information if the law requires it, to protect people's safety or our rights, or as part of a sale or merger of ComoClip (this policy would keep applying to your data).
Cookies
We use one cookie, to keep you signed in and protect forms from forgery. It's required for the site to work. We don't use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies.
To see which pages are visited, we count page views per day, per page and per referring website (for example youtube.com). The count has no cookies, IP addresses or anything else that identifies you.
How long we keep it
- The clip editor's longer copy of each clip moment is deleted 30 days after the clip is made (or sooner, with the clip).
- Downloaded copies of linked videos, transcripts and working files are deleted as soon as a project finishes. Recordings made by Live auto-clip stay on your PC and are deleted there once clipped.
- Files you upload are deleted once their clips are made (or the video fails or is canceled).
- On the Free plan, projects and their clips are deleted 30 days after the clips are made. On paid plans, clips stay until you delete them, the project, or your account. Template files stay until you delete them or your account.
- Deleting your account (Account settings or the data deletion page) deletes your videos, clips, templates, channels, paired PCs and account data right away. Database backups are kept for up to 30 days, so deleted data disappears from them within 30 days. Paired PCs remove the account's files from themselves the next time they're online. We keep only the deletion's reference code (hashed) and date, so you can check it was done. Deleting your account also removes ComoClip's access to your connected YouTube and TikTok accounts and deletes your customer record at Stripe, which ends any subscription at once; Stripe keeps payment records it must keep by law.
- Copies of emails we send are kept for at most 30 days, without the sign-in links in them.
- If you used free cloud minutes or free AI credits, we keep a one-way fingerprint of your email (not the email itself) and how much you used after deletion, so free trials can't be restarted.
Security
Everything travels over encrypted connections. Passwords and PC keys are stored only as one-way hashes, and files are shared only through short-lived signed links. Each account is kept separate from every other. No service can promise perfect security, but if a breach affects your data we'll tell you as the law requires.
Your choices and rights
You can see and download your clips, change your details and password, remove channels and PCs, and delete projects or your whole account at any time in the app. Download my data (Account) gives you a copy of everything stored about your account. To delete your data, follow the steps on our data deletion page. It also works if you can't sign in, and every deletion gets a reference code you can check. You can also email us to correct your data or object to how we use it. Depending on where you live (for example the EU, UK or California), you may have more rights, including complaining to your data protection authority. We'll answer within 30 days and won't treat you differently for using your rights.
Where it's processed
Our providers may process your data in the United States and other countries. Where the law requires it, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses, for those transfers.
Children
ComoClip isn't meant for children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and we don't knowingly collect their data. If you think a child has an account, contact us and we'll delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll post the new version here with a new date. For important changes we'll also email you before they take effect.
